Punjabi Sahit Sabha, New Delhi
Punjabi Sahit Sabha, New Delhi, was registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 in the year 1955–56, under the headship of Dr. Hari Singh, Shri Kuldip Singh, and Shri Piara Singh, and others, although its literary monthly meetings began in 1943.
The foundation stone of Punjabi Bhavan, where it is currently housed, was laid on May 5, 1990, by Shri I. K. Gujral, MEA, Government of India, under the Chairpersonship of Bhapa Pritam Singh and Presidentship of Shri K. S. Duggal.
Punjabi Sahit Sabha is an autonomous institution whose main objectives are as follows:
- To promote Punjabi literature and language.
- To infuse love for literature of all modern Indian and foreign languages, taking up their translations especially.
- To produce, collect and propagate Punjabi literature.
- To promote research in Punjabi language and literature.
